As I reached the final stages of my presentation, I delved deeper into the realm of the auditory tapestry experience. My primary focus remains on a visual presentation, where I have incorporated bright-colored frames, doors, and windows along with the use of fabrics and chandeliers.

I am proposing a concept that aims to make it more "homely," with the primary goal of alleviating fear. In this proposal, I intend to incorporate traditional interior elements to create a warm and comforting atmosphere.

Design Development

In my proposal, I envision a transformative approach to the materiality of Wymering Manor, drawing inspiration from the sensory experiences within the building. A key aspect of this transformation involves finishing the furniture in dark colors, an intentional choice to instill a sense of richness and depth throughout the manor's interior. Dark-colored furniture not only adds an element of sophistication but also contributes to creating a more immersive and comforting environment.

Furthermore, I am eager to introduce new materials that resonate with the historic context of Wymering Manor while offering a contemporary twist. The integration of these materials will not only redefine the tactile experience but also serve as a bridge between the traditional and the modern. Through meticulous material selection and installation, my proposal aims to elevate the aesthetic and sensory qualities of the manor, fostering a renewed appreciation for its architectural heritage. This approach seeks to engage the occupants and visitors in a multisensory journey, where the touch and feel of the surroundings become an integral part of the overall atmospheric narrative.

I aspire to create a space reminiscent of a well-crafted narrative, employing free-standing frames as my architectural canvas. These frames serve as a platform for the artistic display of tapestries, while carpets adorn the floor, weaving a tapestry of tradition and heritage. The textiles, tapestries, and rugs, each bearing patterns infused with a spectrum of colors and threads, eloquently narrate a story of cultural richness.

I envision these structures as versatile and portable, capable of transformation with ease. They can be rolled up at will, allowing one to carry the essence of their sanctuary wherever they go. Curtains, in this context, act as an additional layer, another skin to the interior, contributing to the overall aesthetic.

Traditional chandeliers play a pivotal role in illuminating the space, casting light in a manner that not only serves a practical purpose but also resonates with a timeless elegance. The interplay of light and sound within the space works harmoniously to create an ambiance that mirrors a captivating story.

In my design philosophy, a distinctive feature involves incorporating stitched patterns inspired by my breath drawings, influenced by Alice Kettl's innovative work. These patterns serve as a focal point, going beyond traditional architectural boundaries and metaphorically connecting the intangible essence of breath to the tangible solidity of architectural form.

Through a synthesis of sensory experience, historical mapping, and artistic inspiration, my architectural vision strives to craft spaces imbued with a profound sense of purpose. Each element and intervention is a purposeful stroke on the canvas of design, aiming to create an immersive environment that transcends the physical, engaging occupants on both emotional and intellectual levels.

 Finally, this proposed approach to interior design for transitional spaces, where modular and free-standing elements are used to create functional and adaptable living spaces. This approach has several benefits, including the ability to occupy the space during the transition phase, reuse the interior elements in different locations, and embrace sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
